1920 - 1930 - August Strothlücke started up the company in 1920
August Strothlücke , was born on the 13th October 1876. Always open-minded to new things, he purposefully and ambitiously went his own way. He was one of the citizens of Gütersloh who understood how to build up a company starting from modest beginnings.
Since the turn of the century, August and his wife Johanna have been selling meat products in the wholesale and retail business. After the disorder of World War I they reached the decision to start their own production of sausage and ham specialities.
Despite the catastrophic post war conditions, August Strothlücke turned his own house into a slaughter house, a sausage production area, a curing chamber, a cold room and a pickling cellar.
In Autumn 1920 they began to buy cattle, slaughter them and turn them into Westphalian meat and sausage specialities. 1st November 1920 was the first day of the new industrial enterprise and the beginning of today’s August Strothlücke KG. While August, with his untiring commitment, proved himself to be an expert in this line of industry, his wife also worked very hard in the production. Some of her recipes have been a company secret for a long time.
