1945 – 1967 - The reconstruction after the second world war.
In order to meet the demands of the citizens and in defiance of the turbulent market conditions during the immediate post-war period, the company August Strothlücke became a producer of stock cubes and soup seasoning, which were a desirable substitute to meat and sausage products at this time.
The many spices which appeared on the market at that time had to have a name. The company August Strothlücke created the name ASTRO Spices from the first two letters of the first and surname, today’s company logo Astro in a red rhombus.
The introduction of the DM as a requirement for the normalisation of market conditions was also the end of the soup seasoning. People reverted to the good old trusted “sausage” and “cured ham”. In 1955 the decision to close the slaughter house was made to rationalize costs.
An essential contribution to a noticeable improvement followed 1958 through renovation, new premises and the introduction of new technology. The company was able to increase its sales to such a great extent within the next years, that the small business quickly became a considerable medium-sized company.
