Certified Safety

In times of BSE and swine fever, certain strategies have to be developed and implemented to re-establish the public’s confidence in sausage products. The market rightly demands from its suppliers adequate measures and concepts to protect the customer.

The company’s priority objective has always been to guarantee the highest possible product safety and a uniform, reliable product quality for its customers and end users.

We have, for years, worked according to the DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management system, in which the HACCP concept has been integrated. This facilitates risk analysis for the entire manufacturing process prevents production errors. Through certification, Astro subjects its production process to an auditable, transparent set of methods, which clearly and continuously document performance for the benefit of both internal and external individuals. Detailed records enable traceability of end products all the way back to unmistakable identification of every raw material. Naturally Astro only uses raw materials which comply with the most stringent criteria, and which continually undergo veterinary and medical examination.

As a result of these long years of consistent quality policy, Astro very successfully took part, for the fourth time in the row, in the independent audit carried out by the International Food Standards (IFS) in September 2007. As in the previous years, it received the “highest level” certification, (please see press report).
