Self-Service Packaging

In the self-service department, Michael and his team are responsible for the correct packing of the sausages for the self-service refrigerator cases in supermarkets.

In a matter of seconds, the metre long sausages are sliced in the huge cutting machines. Almost simultaneously they are packed in piles, fan-like or in circles into selected plastic packaging. In a protected atmosphere, these are then sealed airtight.

Depending on the customer’s request, the shapes of packaging vary from flat and broad to high and narrow packages. They can be filled with a few thick slices or perhaps with many thin slices. Astro offers flexible und individual solutions to questions of packaging for all volumes. Our customer decides what goes into the packages.

All packages however, have one thing in common, they all weighed exactly down to the gram.
All staff on the packaging machines take the greatest care to ensure that the packages are sealed perfectly. Once again, at this crucial stage of the production, perfection is a necessity. A sterile working environment ensures that the packages are not contaminated and that our customers enjoy our products for a very long time.

All staff in the packaging department are responsible for ensuring that the outer appearance of the goods, is kept to the same high standard that is promised on the Astro-speciality wrappings, for its last journey to the customer.
